As part of pre-monsoon activities, a strong storm and heavy rain altered the weather in Kota city on Sunday night. Rain that continued into the early hours of Monday brought relief from the heat, but the increased humidity as the day progressed exacerbated the situation.

According to the Meteorological Department, the city recorded 34.8 mm of rain. Strong winds gusting between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour accompanied lightning and thunder until around 4 a.m. Heavy rain lashed many areas for two hours, causing water to flow onto roads. Power supply was also affected during this period.

People had to face problems due to power failure. After that, humidity remained high since morning. The situation became such that people became drenched in sweat. Due to the strong sunlight during the day, people rarely went out. People came out in the markets only after the evening set in. The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.1 degrees Celsius. While the minimum temperature dropped by three degrees and reached 22.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity was recorded up to 63 percent in the morning, due to which the feeling of sticky heat remained throughout the day.

Weather will be like this in future

According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorm activity is now expected to decrease across most parts of the state. However, thunderstorms and light rain may continue in some areas of eastern Rajasthan. Meanwhile, in the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions of western Rajasthan, the weather is expected to remain dry for the next two to three days, with temperatures expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

A warning has been issued for maximum temperatures reaching 44 to 46 degrees Celsius, heatwaves, and strong dusty winds in border areas between June 8 and 11. A new western disturbance, which will become active on June 11, could bring increased thunderstorms and rain activity to some parts of the state.
