It is nothing new for the Pakistani government and army to open fire on and suppress their own people. There are unconfirmed reports that Pakistani security forces have killed more than 30 protesters in Muzaffarabad, in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India has strongly condemned this act of barbarity by Pakistan.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed India’s concern regarding the ongoing protests and related issues in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He stated that India is closely monitoring the pattern of fake news and videos being propagated by Pakistan. Jaiswal described this as a desperate attempt by Pakistan to conceal its own failures and divert attention from human rights violations.

Hope international community will hold Pakistan accountable: India

Randhir Jaiswal referred to reports of police brutality in PoK, noting that several people have been killed and many others injured. He expressed hope that the international community would hold Pakistan accountable for its misdeeds and abuses.

The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that the disinformation being spread by Pakistan is a calculated move to divert attention from its own internal problems and human rights violations in the region. It stated that India is urging the international community to hold Pakistan accountable on this issue.

Protests spread

A few days ago, the Pakistan Army opened fire on protesters from the Joint Awami Action Committee in the territory of Jammu and Kashmir under its occupation. Reports emerged that several people were killed in the firing; however, the death toll has not yet been confirmed.

Defending the firing incident, the Pakistan Army claimed that they had been attacked with weapons and petrol bombs from narrow alleys, prompting them to take action. Pakistan suspended mobile internet services in an attempt to suppress the voice of the protest. Despite this, protests have spread to Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dadyal, Rawalakot, Sudhanoti, and Tattapani.
