The monsoon has reached 16 states in six days. It entered West Bengal on Tuesday. Currently, it is about 150 km away from Mumbai and could arrive in the city within the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, by next week, it is expected to reach Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Odisha.

The influence of monsoon winds has brought relief from the heat in several states across the plains. Additionally, pre-monsoon activity is causing storms with wind speeds of 50–60 kmph and heavy rainfall in many areas. In Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, strong winds uprooted trees at several locations on Tuesday.

Kerala and Karnataka have been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past four days. On Tuesday, heavy rain led to waterlogging on numerous roads in Bengaluru and Belagavi; in some places, vehicles were seen being swept away by the water.

Meanwhile, the impact of the heat persists across Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Heatwave alerts have been issued for several districts. On Monday, Sri Ganganagar recorded a maximum temperature of 45.6°C.
