Sri Lanka needed 10 runs off the final two overs with three wickets in hand. However, in the 49th over, Arshad Khan claimed two wickets and effected a run-out to wrap up the Sri Lankan innings.
Gaikwad scored a century; Tilak hit a half-century
After winning the toss and electing to bat at the Dambulla Stadium, the Indian team scored 277 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a century knock of 101 runs, while captain Tilak Varma contributed 60 runs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the highest run-scorer in IPL 2026, could only manage 14 runs. For the Sri Lankan team, Mohammad Shiraz claimed 2 wickets.
Captain Sahan Arachige scored 74 runs
Chasing the target, Sahan Arachchige (74) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (46) raised hopes for Sri Lanka, but India turned the tide of the match by taking wickets at regular intervals.
For India, Ayush Badoni, Anukul Roy, Arshad Khan, and Vipraj Nigam claimed two wickets each, while Anshul Kamboj took one wicket.
