Weather forecast: IMD issues heavy rain alert for 11 states in the next 14 hours

The weather is about to deteriorate once again. IMD issued rain and thunderstorm warnings for 11 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Winds of up to 50 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected. In eastern Indian states, severe thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms are also being warned. A snowfall alert has also been issued for hilly states.

Delhi-NCR

IMD issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR for May 12. There is a possibility of rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. According to the Meteorological Department, apart from Delhi, the weather may deteriorate in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and surrounding areas. Winds can blow at a speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour. The weather may improve from May 13. On this day it will be partly cloudy and thunderclouds may form at some places. The weather is expected to be clear on May 14.

Uttar Pradesh

According to IMD, cloudy weather is expected over Uttar Pradesh for the next three days. However, temperatures are expected to rise gradually. Isolated light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speeds reaching 30-50 kmph) are expected over eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Bihar

IMD has issued special precautionary measures for 19 districts in North Bihar. Strong winds of up to 50 to 60 kilometers per hour are expected in these areas. East winds are prevailing in Bihar, spreading abundant moisture. The department has issued a yellow alert and advised people to remain vigilant.

Rajasthan

Warning of severe heatwave in many areas of the state, it has been said that the temperature will rise further in the coming days. Heatwave and hot nights are expected in some parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions for the next 4-5 days. During the next 48 hours, there is a possibility of cloudy sky at some places, storm with a speed of 40-50 kmph and light drizzle in Bikaner division, Shekhawati region, northern parts of Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions.

Madhya Pradesh

Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of up to 40-50 kmph are forecast for several districts in Madhya Pradesh. The districts likely to experience thunderstorms and strong winds include Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Anuppur, Shahdol, Umaria, Dindori, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Sagar, and Pandhurna.

Uttrakhand

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is possible at many places in the mountainous districts. Snowfall is also possible in areas above 4500 meters. While rain and snowfall continue in the mountainous regions, light rain may also be observed at isolated places in the plains.

Jharkhand

Two trough lines are active, running from Rajasthan to West Bengal and from Bihar to Telangana, and passing through Jharkhand. Due to this, temperatures across the state have dropped significantly. We need to remain vigilant for the next four days. There is a strong possibility of thunderstorms, rain, and lightning in various parts of the state for the next four days. Wind speeds could exceed 50 km per hour.

Northeast

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) is likely over Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh on 12th May and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 13th May.
