The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Central Government and X in connection with the blocking of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (formerly Twitter) account in India. The High Court declined to direct the immediate restoration of the blocked account of the Cockroach Janata Party, X.
The High Court today heard a petition filed by Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party, challenging the decision of X (formerly Twitter) to block the social media accounts of his satirical digital organization. A bench headed by Justice Purushendra Kumar Kaurav heard Dipke’s petition.

Abhijit Dipke, formerly associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), launched the Cockroach Janata Party amid the controversy surrounding Chief Justice Surya Kant’s remarks on cockroaches and parasites on May 15 during the hearing of a petition related to the designation of senior advocate.

On May 16, the Chief Justice clarified his remarks, saying they were directed at those entering the legal profession with fake or fraudulent degrees, not at young people. He expressed regret over media reports that his statement had been distorted.
