CBSE has taken a major decision for 12th Result Re-evaluation. The board has provided significant relief to 12th-grade students who believe they could score better marks in their CBSE 12th board results, but were unable to take advantage of re-evaluation due to the high fees. By reducing the 12th-grade re-evaluation fees, the CBSE has given another chance to those students who believe they could score higher marks.

With this decision, the board clarified that this step was taken in the interest of transparency and students. Board officials, understanding the concerns of students and their parents, explained that the CBSE has always had the provision for revaluation, and now it has been made even easier through digital means.

Such students can apply online to benefit from the CBSE’s re-evaluation process. The board has significantly reduced the fee for viewing answer sheets. This decision comes amid serious questions raised about the CBSE 12th On-Screen Marking System (OSM).

CBSE 12th copy re-checking in two stages

The CBSE 12th answer sheet checking process will take place in two stages: first, obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets and second, verification. According to the CBSE circular, in the first stage, students will first need to apply online to receive scanned copies of their checked answer sheets. In second phase, students can apply for either ‘Verification of deficiencies found’ or ‘Re-evaluation of answers’.

Fee reduced from Rs 700 to Rs 100- CBSE

According to an earlier notice issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), students wishing to check their Class 12 answer sheets were required to pay a fee of ₹700. However, this fee has now been reduced to ₹100. The board made this decision just before the verification process began. The online process for obtaining scanned copies of answer keys will begin on May 19th and continue until May 22nd.

Verification of deficiencies from May 2

Verification and re-evaluation of deficiencies in answer sheets for will begin on May 26. Students will be able to apply online from May 26 to May 29. Verification requests will incur a fee of ₹500 per answer sheet, while re-evaluation will incur a fee of ₹100 per question.

Keep in mind, students will only have one chance to apply. Furthermore, even if a one-mark decrease after re-evaluation, it will be applied. In case of an increase or decrease in marks, students will need to submit their marksheet or certificate to the board, and a new marksheet will be issued. For more information, you can visit the board’s website.

Questions raised on OSM System

Serious questions are raising on CBSE On-Screen Marking OSM system. Many students will not be able to get admission into IITs or NITs even after scoring well in JEE because the JEE Main criteria marks in class 12th are less than 75%. In addition to students and parents, CBSE teachers have also reported glitches in OSM. Many teachers have complained of technical glitches, blurred handwriting, slow servers, and scanning issues. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education stated that 98,000 answer sheets were checked using OSM, with 13,000 copies marked offline.

12th Board Result was declared on May 13, 2026. This year, 17,80,365 students registered for the 12th board exams. A total of 1,768,968 students appeared for the board exams, but 1,507,109, or 85.20%, passed.
