Suvendu Adhikari will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal at 11 a.m. today at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and 20 Chief Ministers from NDA and BJP-ruled states have also arrived.

Media reports claim that four more MLAs, in addition to Suvendu, may also be sworn in. However, their names have not yet been revealed.

Earlier on Friday, Suvendu was elected as the leader of the legislative party at a meeting in Kolkata. Amit Shah announced his name. Subsequently, Suvendu met with the Governor and staked claim to form the government.

Suvendu was spiritual, family afraid that his son might become a monk

Born in 1970 in Kontali village, East Medinipur, Suvendu had a religious inclination since childhood. He had a regular routine of visiting the Ramakrishna Mission every Saturday. He was so religious as a child that his family feared he might become a monk.

He would quietly donate even the coins he had at home to the mission. His family thought he might leave at any time. But Suvendu made a different decision… he would not retire, but would pursue politics and would not marry.

Suvendu began his student political career at Prabhat Kumar College in Kanthi in the late 1980s and gradually established himself in East Medinipur.
