A strange incident has been reported from Phuket, Thailand. Four Indian nationals visiting the island suddenly fainted while dining at a cafe. One Indian tourist died in this mysterious incident, while three others are undergoing treatment in hospital. Thailand: What did the Indian Embassy say?
The Indian Embassy wrote on social media platform X, “The Embassy is in touch with the Thai authorities and is closely monitoring the incident in which four Indian tourists fainted in Phuket on May 9, 2026 and were subsequently admitted to hospital for treatment.”
The embassy said, “Our deepest condolences on the death of one of them, a young Indian tourist. Embassy officials are in contact with the family of the deceased to offer all possible assistance in this time of grief. We are in contact with the relevant Thai authorities, who are investigating the incident and monitoring the health of the others.”

What did the local media report say?
According to the Bangkok Post, police have confirmed that a 26-year-old Indian tourist has died and three others are still in hospital after mysteriously fainting at a cafe in Phuket on Saturday morning.
According to local officials, the incident occurred in the Kamala Beach area of Kathu district. Four foreign tourists were called for help after they fainted at a popular cafe. Three were taken to Patong Hospital and one to Thalang Hospital.

Who are victims?
Police investigating the case visited both hospitals and attempted to record the victims’ statements. However, the three young men were unable to provide statements. Security guards at the cafe told investigators that five Indian men entered the cafe together around 11 p.m. Friday night. They were identified as Kushagra Agarwal, Rahul Agarwal, another man named Rahul Agarwal, Aman Agarwal, and Aryan Verma.
Thailand: At around 1:54 a.m., four members of the group collapsed one by one. Cafe staff immediately called emergency services, and all were taken to the hospital. The fifth person, Aryan Verma, showed no symptoms.
Patong Hospital later reported that two men, Kushagra Agarwal and Rahul Agarwal, were in a coma and were transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further treatment.

One death, three patients stable
At around 2 p.m. Saturday, police were informed that Kushagra Agarwal had died. The remaining three patients are reported to be in stable condition. Thai authorities have informed the Indian Embassy and are working with forensic experts to conduct a detailed postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
