‘Chand Mera Dil’ is a film whose trailer doesn’t give you a good idea of what it will be like. If you’ve guessed the story based on the trailer, you’ll find yourself mistaken in the cinema.

Even before the ‘film’s ‘Chand Mera Dil’s release, its songs were well-received by audiences, raising high expectations. However, a film doesn’t succeed simply because of strong acting. Find out in this review where the film’s performance fell short despite a promising start.
What is the story?
‘Chand Mera Dil’ is a story of a young couple. Engineering college students Aarav (Lakshya) and Chandni (Ananya) fall in love. Then, they make a mistake and marry against the wishes of their families. But the burden of increased responsibilities at a young age soon creates distance between them. Then begins the real story: a journey of love, waiting, pain, and trials. You’ll have to watch the film to find out what twists and turns this journey takes.
How is the acting?
In the film, you’ll see a 2.0 version of Ananya Panday. She doesn’t overact like she did in ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.’ Watching her performance, you won’t believe it’s actually Ananya Panday. There’s not a single scene in the entire film where she appears weak. After watching the film, you’ll stop trolling her.
Lakshya is superstar material. His performance reflects Ranbir Kapoor’s influences at times. He masterfully handles every emotion in his character—love, pain, and anger. The entire film revolves around Lakshya and Ananya. The rest of the cast has only minor roles.
Direction
‘Chand Mera Dil’ is directed by Vivek Soni who has directed ‘Minakshi Sundaram’ and ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’. The film starts off well, but after the interval, the screenplay becomes quite cumbersome. The second half is so full of distractions that the audience is left waiting for it to end.
Ananya and Lakshya carried this film well. Vivek’s direction could have been better. There were some scenes that could have been better presented. There were some characters that could have been further developed.
Where is the deficiency?
The film’s biggest weakness is its meandering story. Just as the characters don’t know what to do, the writers are also in the same situation. Vivek Soni, along with Tushar Paranjpe and Akshat Ghildial, worked on the story, but even together, the three of them couldn’t give it a proper direction.
The film’s beginning was as good as its ending. You connect with many of its scenes. The reasons for the breakdown of relationships, expectations from your partner, and the post-divorce atmosphere all seem real, but by the climax, everything goes awry.
In Bollywood romantic films, writers often take the risk of writing a different climax, but by the end, they get caught up in the trap of trying to deliver a happy ending, and the audience suffers in the process. They expect something new, but end up with the same old formula.
Overall performance
Veteran film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has seen the film ‘Chand Mera Dil’ and has provided a review on his official X handle. Taran called the film impactful and gave it a rating of three out of five. He wrote, “The film offers a mix of expected and unexpected moments. This is no ordinary love story. The emotions are intense. The music is excellent, but the second half should have been more refined.”
#OneWordReview…#ChandMeraDil: IMPACTFUL.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½
Expect the unexpected, because this isn't your regular love story… Winsome performances, several terrific emotional moments, and soulful music are its strengths… The second half could've been sharper.… pic.twitter.com/kLpYuEBgj5
