Suvendu Adhikari: The BJP Legislature Party in West Bengal has finalized its decision on the new Chief Minister of the state during its meeting. Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was elected as the leader of the legislative party. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was present as the central observer at this important meeting.

During the meeting, BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya proposed the name of Suvendu Adhikari. Consensus was then sought from all BJP MLAs present, after which Amit Shah formally approved his name.

Amit Shah said after the meeting, “Recently the election process has been completed and about eight proposals and support were received. All of these were for the same name. Everyone was given time for the second name also, but no other name came forward. Therefore, as the central observer, I declare Suvendu Adhikari elected as the leader of the West Bengal Legislative Party.”

Before the meeting, Amit Shah visited Kolkata’s famous Dakshineswar Kali Temple and offered prayers. After the visit, Shah went directly to key meetings with party leaders, where government formation and the swearing-in ceremony were discussed.

Suvendu Adhikari: Cabinet formation will also be discussed

According to sources, before the legislative party meeting, Amit Shah will discuss every aspect of government formation with senior party leaders. This will include the composition of the new cabinet, the distribution of key portfolios, and the government’s priorities. The BJP has appointed Amit Shah as the central observer for West Bengal, while Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been appointed as the co-observer.

Kolkata’s Brigade Ground ready: Swearing-in ceremony to be special

Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for Saturday at Kolkata’s historic Brigade Parade Ground, are in the final stages. The party is planning to present the swearing-in ceremony as a major cultural and political event, marking the formation of the BJP government in West Bengal for the first time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with several senior leaders, will be present at the ceremony.

More than 50,000 people are expected to attend the ceremony. The main stage will be divided into three sections. The first section will house Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, other Union ministers, and chief ministers of various states. The second section will house Governor R.N. Ravi, who will administer the oath of office to the new chief minister and ministers. The third section will house the sworn-in chief minister and members of the new cabinet.

BJP’s historic victory in Bengal

The BJP has made history in West Bengal in this assembly election. According to the latest Election Commission data, the BJP has won 206 seats in the 294-member assembly. The Trinamool Congress was reduced to 80. The BJP won only 77 seats in the 2021 assembly elections, but this time the party has made a significant advance, paving the way for its first government in Bengal.
