What was the story?
The blackbuck poaching case involving Bhaijan surfaced in 1998, when he was shooting for the film “Hum Saath Saath Hain” in Jodhpur. A total of four cases were filed against Bhaijan. These included two chinkara poaching cases, one Kankani blackbuck poaching case, and one Arms Act case.
Along with Bhaijan, a case was also filed against Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam in the blackbuck poaching case, based on a complaint from the Bishnoi community. Bhaijan was first arrested in these cases on October 12, 1998, though he was later granted bail.

In April 2006, Bhaijan was sentenced in the chinkara poaching case. In January 2017, he was acquitted in the Arms Act case. On April 5, 2018, he was sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of ₹10,000 in the blackbuck poaching case. The other actors were acquitted in the same case.
Bhaijan was later granted bail. The case is currently pending in the Rajasthan High Court. After a hearing in May 2026, the court scheduled the next hearing for July 13, 2026. Salman Khan is currently out on bail.
Lawrence expressed his displeasure with Bhaijan
It is noteworthy that Lawrence Bishnoi has publicly stated that he is angry with Salman Khan over the blackbuck poaching case. In a 2023 interview with ABP News from jail, he stated that killing Salman Khan is his life’s mission.
In 2024, firing occurred outside Salman’s home (Galaxy Apartments), for which Lawrence Bishnoi’s overseas brother, Anmol Bishnoi, claimed responsibility.
